The Downtown Aberdeen Social District is an exciting, new initiative that allows visitors and locals to enjoy alcoholic beverages from participating businesses in in designated areas within the heart of our vibrant downtown area.
What is the Downtown Aberdeen
Social District?
The Downtown Aberdeen Social District is a designated area where you can purchase alcoholic beverages from participating restaurants, cafes, and bars, and take them "to-go" to enjoy as you explore much of our beautiful downtown business district within the designated boundary. Whether you're sipping on a local craft beer, a signature cocktail, or a refreshing soft drink, the Social District allows you to experience the best of Downtown Aberdeen in a relaxed and social setting.
How does it Work?
All Social District beverages must be sold and consumed ONLY during the designated active days and times:​

THURSDAY - SATURDAY (1100AM - 1100PM)​
SUNDAY (100PM - 900PM)

Grab Your Beverage: Head to any participating licensed permitee establishment and purchase your alcoholic beverage "to go" in a special designated cup. Alcoholic beverages can only enter the original permitee establishment from which they were sold.

Take it with You: Enjoy your social district beverage while you explore the open-air spaces, participating small businesses, and other scenic spots within the designated boundary.

Enjoy Responsibly: Be sure to "drink responsibly and be 21,"; keep your beverage in its designated social district cup, and only enter into participating non-permitee establishments who permit social district beverages.

Keep Downtown Beautiful: Dispose of the social district beverage before exiting the social district or entering vehicles.
Identifying Participating Businesses:
Our local retailers, venues, bars, restaurants, and cafés are excited to be part of the social district.
Look for the social district signage, all YOU have to do, is follow the signs. Participation is not mandatory, if you don't see a sign, please ask the business before entering.

"BEVERAGES SOLD HERE" Purchase Social District Beverages from licensed, participating establishments INSIDE the Social District boundary, in approved Social District cups, ONLY where signage indicates "Beverages Sold Here". NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL ALLOWED.​​​

"BEVERAGES WELCOME" Enter establishments with Social District beverages ONLY where signage indicates "Beverages Welcome".​

"PLEASE NO BEVERAGES" DO NOT ENTER establishments with Social District beverages where signage indicates "Please No Beverages".

"SOCIAL DISTRICT BOUNDARY" This indicates the beginning of the Social District boundary and provides active days and times to help you stay in compliance. ***NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL ALLOWED***

"NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BEYOND THIS POINT" This indicates the edge of the boundary. Empty and dispose of Social District beverages before exiting.

All licensed establishments are responsible for adhering to ABC Laws pertaining to the sale of alcohol. Businesses can learn more about responsible Seller/Server requirements HERE

All Social District patrons and participants are responsible for acting in accordance with all applicable North Carolina ABC Laws and the Town of Aberdeen Code of Ordinances pertaining to sale and consumption of alcohol within the approved Downtown Aberdeen Social District.
